Palio delle Rocche
From April 5th to April 14th - 54th Edition of PALIO DELLE ROCCHE in GUAZZINO
On the second Sunday after Easter, the flags of its three Contrade (town quarters) color the small town of Guazzino while competing for the ‘Palio delle Rocche’. The young people of the village try to pierce a ring with a spear while being carried on a hand-drawn chariot. The three Contrade in competition are: Le Torri, Casacce and Fontana. This event takes place in honor of the Madonna delle Grazie, Patroness of Guazzino. In ancient times, the women of the village offered spinning distaffs (rocche) full of hemp and silk to the Madonna.
