Town Hall

The Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) was erected in 1502 when the chief magistrate of the castle decided to sell the moats of one of the gates, "Porta del Ponte", to build new homes. The Renaissance-style building is divided into five floors, two of which are below ground level. The rusticated doorway features the coat of arms of the Lomeri family. Built on the second city wall, the building has served different purposes over the years and was adapted among other things as a prison and barracks for the carabinieri.
