Chianina breed

The Chianina is an Italian bovine breed from the Arezzo and Siena areas, once used as a driving force and now bred exclusively for the production of meat. It owes its name to the Valdichiana and is generally considered a native breed of central Italy. It is a bovine characterized by somatic gigantism, that is, it is very large in size with a white coat. The Chianina breed is currently the result of a selection that began in the last century in which Professor Ezio Marchi, considered the "father of the Chianina", was the protagonist.
