Sinalunga has very ancient origins and over the centuries the Etruscans and then the Romans first settled there, it was at the center of many battles in the Middle Ages and finally saw the splendor of the Renaissance. Archaeologist excavations have brought to light Etruscan tombs whose finds are exhibited at "Larth-Stanze Etrusche", while the two travertine steles of the noble Caius Umbricio are from the Roman era and are kept inside the Pieve San Pietro ad Mensulas. Dating back to the medieval period is the Church of Santa Lucia, where the magistrates and the people met to decide the fate of the Castrum. The fortification of Sinalunga has undergone countless changes and was destroyed in 1554 after being conquered by the Spanish.
